I am thinking about work with animals when I am older, can anyone help me?

I am currently in 5th form, doing my GCSE's this year. I am not afraid of getting up close with animals, I probably wouldn't wrestle crocodiles or anything like Steve Irwin, but I just would love working with them. I don't want to be a vet because of all the training, and also I am not fond of blood unless it's my own :P I am thinking of possibly filming animals, but I have no experience with any stuff like that. How would I get into a job like that? (what should I take for 6th form) And are there any other jobs that I might be interested in?
