OJ lost the civil lawsuit; how did he get out of paying the families?

OJ was sued in civil court and found guilty of the wrongful death of Nicole Simpson and the young man who was with Nicole at the time, who was also murdered (I don't recall his name)--yet, according to the news media, OJ has never paid the families a cent of that money. How did OJ manage to avoid paying the families anything, given he was found guilty by the courts? How did he tie up his money and ets to keep the court from seizing any of his property?
